- Flagship Hotel La Tour to open in Birmingham, further UK expansion revealed – Hotel La Tour, the £24 million flagship development in a new chain of UK city centre hotels, is set to open its doors next month on the doorstep of the Bullring development in Birmingham city centre. The 174-bedroom hotel will comprise a restaurant, bar, street café and conference room as the new Group plans to open five properties around the UK over the next five years.
- Birmingham New Street retail plan – Network Rail and Birmingham City Council have appointed retail consultant Keith Stone to lead the leasing of the Pallasades shopping centre, which is being upgraded and remodelled as part of the redevelopment of Birmingham New Street
- Urban Coffee full of beans after rave review in the New York Times – The glowing report, published last week, came about after a NYT travel writer was impressed by what he saw (and tasted) during a visit to the Warstone Lane cafe last September. It’s yet another nod to the city from the illustrious publication after it placed Birmingham 19th on a list of the world’s 45 must-see places to visit in 2012.
