Who’s brave enough to experience Stage Fright at The REP? Friday 29 October 2010

Birmingham Repertory Theatre is offering 13 brave souls a unique opportunity to experience the true meaning of Stage Fright at a special and spooky event being held at the theatre just before Halloween.

With building work on the theatre underway and the company readying for its temporary move offsite in January it seems that some of the theatre’s spirits have been awakened by the rumblings behind the scenes. So The REP is providing would be ghost hunters with the chance to sleep over night on the main stage and keep an eye out – if they dare – for things that go bump in the night!

The Stage Fright experience is taking place on the evening of Friday 29 October 2010 and to take part The REP is asking participants to try and raise £250 towards the theatre’s public appeal for essential building improvements.

Ros Adams, Development Officer at The REP says of the event:

“With The REP closing its doors for two years in January this is a great opportunity for people to spend the night on our stage and learn about some of the ghostly goings on behind the scenes.

Stage Fright is the perfect Halloween treat for your boss, best friend, or perhaps you worst enemy! And while there may be some spine curdling moments throughout the night we’re sure everyone will emerge unscathed!

“It is a fun event but there is a serious point to it as we hope to raise money for long overdue improvements to our theatre and towards education and creative projects which will benefits participants and audience members alike.

“As a registered charity we have to fundraise to support a lot of the work The REP produces and with such an unusual experience on offer, we hope that people will be keen to take part.”

Stage Fright takes place on Friday 29 October and those interested in taking part can find out more by contacting Ros Adams on 0121 245 2163.
