Now it’s official, Nvidia is out of stock of the two RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 graphics cards. And if you were going to buy one of these cards, you should know that the company expects stocks return to normal over the next few months, but never before 2021, as demand was much higher than supply.
Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO of Nvidia, made the revelation to reporters after the Nvidia GTC conference:
I think the demand will exceed our entire supply throughout the year. Remember that we will also have a double curse. The double curse is the holiday season. Even before the holidays, we were doing very well. And then you add that to the “boost factor”, then you add to that the “year-end boost factor”, and we’ll have a very, very big season in the fourth quarter.
This ensures that the problem is really requested, not a production problem. If Nvidia could produce more graphics cards, the group certainly would. “This is a phenomenon that we haven’t seen for a long time and that we just weren’t prepared for it,” admitted the Nvidia executive.
Nvidia struggles to fulfill RTX 3080 and 3090 orders
Nvidia is therefore producing new cards, but they are sold immediately. Jen-Hsun Huang thinks things should “normalize” only after 2021, and never before.
