A new update to WhatsApp for Android is coming with some new features, and one of those features is long overdue by users. After a long period of testing in the app’s beta program, facial recognition is finally coming to the Facebook messaging app.
This means that the app has now evolved and already offers the possibility for users to identify themselves in messaging using only their face. So far this possibility has been removed from the Android app, but facial recognition allows for additional authentication, and most importantly, easier access for users.
On iOS, this option had been offered for some time via FaceID, and according to the company, this is one of the most used features, and this is the main reason that led the company to make it available for Android.
WhatsApp for Android now has facial recognition
However, the update does not only have this new functionality, as it is now also possible for a user to enter a missed group call. If you are called to a group conference and cannot answer immediately, you can join the group while it is active, using a new dedicated button.
These options are implemented in version 126.96.36.199 of WhatsApp, wider adoption is expected to take place before the end of the year.
