Microsoft suspends updates in December

Microsoft used its blog to announce that it won’t be releasing updates for Windows 10 in December. The company didn’t give a strong reason for the move, simply saying that as the end of the year approaches, it is preparing for it.

The software giant claims it will only run on “minimal services” as we enter a period of many holidays, but that everything will be back to normal in January 2021. However, the company says security patches could be made available if something abnormal occurs or in urgent situations.

The truth is, Microsoft isn’t the only company “slowing down” this time of year, and it’s an almost prevalent situation in the industry. The arrival of a new calendar year is the time for companies to prepare to announce many of their plans for that year, and to get this ready, it is necessary to prepare in advance.

Windows 10 will not receive updates during the month of December

Here are Microsoft’s words on the slowdown in its operation in December:

IMPORTANT: Due to minimum operations during the holidays and the upcoming New Year in the West, there will be no earlier release for December 2020. Monthly maintenance will resume with the January 2021 security releases.

In 2021, we will be there to receive new updates.
