When Nikon entered the MirrorLess camera market, public reception was rather mixed. The brand then tried again with its new Z series, a series that proved to be much more popular than the previous one. Now the manufacturer is back with the second generation of Z-series MirrorLess cameras, and we’re talking about the Nikon Z 6II and Z 7II.
Nikon unveils its Z 6II and Z 7II
Logically, these two models are very different from each other, but both share several resources. For starters, both feature a magnesium alloy chassis that has been sealed to ensure that natural elements don’t penetrate and damage the interior. They also use two EXPEED 6 processors to process the images and have an improved focus system. And 4K video capture at 60 fps is also part of the game.
That said, as noted above, these two models aren’t really aimed at the same audience, and aim to meet very different needs. With the Z 6II, it seems that Nikon is targeting videographers in particular thanks to its high autofocus speed and its sensitivity to motion tracking. It also has a 24.5 MP BSI CMOS sensor and can offer ISOs between 100 and 51,200, a number up to 204,800.
The Nikon Z 7II is aimed more at photographers interested in high resolution images. This is noted by the integration of a 45.7 MP BSI CMOS sensor and a phase detection focusing system directly on the sensor, perfect for focusing on an object in all circumstances.
If these two references interest you, know that the Nikon Z 6II will be sold from November 5, 2020 at a price of € 2,199. The Nikon Z 7II will be available from December 10, 2020 for € 3,399. This means that they are 100 and 300 cheaper than the Z 6 and Z 7 launched in 2018.
Kits with FTZ and NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f / 4 adapters will also be available.
