Just yesterday we revealed here that Oneplus released a new update for the OnePlus 8/8 Pro which arrives as OxygenOS 220.127.116.11. But it looks like this update comes with a serious bug that seems to delete user data, even though it is a stable channel update.
The deletion of data concerned several users who used the latest beta version, and migrated to the stable version. To your surprise, your OnePlus 8 or 8 Pro has completely lost its data. Some specify that the installation of software updates is done automatically. They therefore had no control to refuse this migration.
Meanwhile, OnePlus has already spoken about it on its forums and says it is investigating the reasons for this situation. The manufacturer recommends that testers with a beta version do not yet install this new update to the stable channel.

There is a solution for those who have installed the update, but have not yet restarted their equipment. OnePlus recommends taking the following steps:
Install this APK file Start the installed application and select “Keep data” Restart the phone and the data should still remain
Despite the above manipulation, OnePlus invites its users to make a backup of their data. This prevents disasters if the backup plan does not work as expected.
