During this Sunday afternoon, Portugal won the VALORANT Spike Nations of Twitch, a solidarity tournament and a collaboration between Twitch and Riot Games. At this European competition which began on November 6, 10 teams took part in seeking their share of the 100,000 dollars available to be given to the various solidarity organizations.
The Portuguese team, formed by players João Narciso (known as “Darkzone”), Guilherme Bento (“MeetTheMyth”), Rui Ribeiro (“TugaTV”), Carlos Nunes (“K0mpa”) and João Borges (“Turlin Nole”) , remained undefeated in Group B, meeting Spain in the semi-finals and, finally, winning the Grand Final against the United Kingdom.
Portugal collected during the various matches the equivalent of 31,595 euros ($ 37,614) to donate to Banco Alimentar, the Portuguese solidarity organization selected for this event. The mission of the Food Bank is to fight against food waste, sending it to people in need through its free distribution, which already reaches more than 390,000 people.
“I am very proud of what we have done today.” says “K0mpa”, the player with the most competitive experience. “We managed to win an international tournament and besides representing Portugal this is something very special that I will keep in mind. I really enjoyed playing alongside my excellent teammates, they surprised me a lot throughout the tournament.
“Darkzone”, the team captain, adds “Being in this event and representing Portugal in an initiative like this has been one of the best things that could have happened this year compared to my career as a streamer . Portugal’s victory was the icing on the cake, as I want VALORANT to grow up in Portugal and I’m sure the rest of the world now knows who we are. Without any losses along the way, we have won 31,000 euros which will be donated to the Food Bank, which makes me extremely happy to help my country at a time when we are all suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic ”.
The food bank will receive 31,595 euros directly from VALORANT Spike Nations of Twitch
