YouTube users will now be witnessing a new ad format: audio ads, something that already exists on other platforms, such as Spotify. These ads will reach Google’s video service.
As the YouTube team themselves revealed, audio ads are a way to reach users who only listen to music. The format is intended for people who may not be watching videos, but are only listening in the background. In fact, audio ads are more interesting than visuals.
Audio ads on YouTube will display a single frame, which can be an animation or a still image. But this screen will be ready so that you just get completely black screen.
Google added audio ads to Ad Manager a few months ago. It’s a way for the advertiser to better adapt and analyze content consumption. According to Google, 75% of audio ads “led to a significant increase in brand awareness.”
Audio ads are coming to YouTube
To date, many people access YouTube just to listen to music. YouTube explains that more than 50% of its users listen to at least 10 minutes of music every day, on its platform. Audio ads therefore have great potential.
