Samsung has officially announced the new features of OneUI 3.0, an operating system based on Android 11. According to information available on the Samsung Malaysia website, the next generation of OneUI comes with a cleaner user interface, and with a quick panel and an improved notification panel. The website adds that the new version of the software will be released later this November.
Samsung claims that the improved Quick Panel will allow users to switch between music and video without any issues. It integrates the multimedia controls of Android 11 to provide a “perfect” experience. The company adds that with the improved notification panel, users will receive messages and notifications in one place, although the exact operation is still unclear. For Samsung Galaxy Fold series users, OneUI 3.0 will allow adjustment of the main screen to provide a tablet-like interface. Additionally, the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Tab S7 receive an enhanced multi-active window feature for a more engaging multitasking experience.
Samsung will start offering Android 11 later in November
The new OneUI 3.0 for Samsung phones will also allow full screen video calls, even with AR emojis. There are also new wallpapers in 10 categories, such as landscapes, art, life, dogs, cats, animals, plants, food, desserts and specialties. Other features include improved security; however, the exact details are still unclear at this time. In addition, Good Lock will also learn new tricks. Its Wonderland module will allow users to create new wallpapers that will respond according to the movement of the phone. Meanwhile, the Pentastic mod will allow users to customize the S Pen Air’s controls and their associated sound settings. Samsung Malaysia does not provide an exact roadmap for the availability of the update, but the Samsung Galaxy S20 series will likely be the first to receive the stable version of OneUI 3, based on Android 11.
Last October, Samsung launched the beta version of OneUI 3.0 for the Galaxy S20 series smartphones. While many features weren’t clearly highlighted, the beta update included support for Samsung DeX, call screen customization, a new full-screen alert layout, and improved gesture navigation.
