On September 19, we revealed here that with the arrival of iOS 14, Apple phones would have lost the ability to use a very cool feature, picture-in-picture, on Youtube. The good news is that it rolls back to iOS 14 and can be used on Safari as well as third-party browsers like Google Chrome.
Although it has been around for some time on Android devices, picture-in-picture support for iPhone was only implemented as a new feature in iOS 14, but it quickly stopped working, continuing to work only for users with an account. on YouTube Premium. And since this situation also occurred in the iPad, it was thought that Google would have turned off the tap, and would only allow the use of these resources by users of the premium subscription of Youtube.
Picture-in-picture is back on the iPhone with iOS 14
Although the Picture-in-picture feature is now operational again in browsers, it is not available in the YouTube app itself, as the feature was never supported. Playing videos in the background is possible through the YouTube app, but only if you have a YouTube Premium subscription.
As such, if you want to try this feature out, just open your iPhone browser with iOS 14, open the YouTube page, choose a video, and play it. With that done, just tap on the little picture-in-picture icon in the upper left corner of the interface.
