The second part of The Spanish Princess series, the conclusion to the original STARZ miniseries, “Spanish Princess”, opens today, October 12 on HBO Portugal.
The Spanish Princess follows the original STARZ miniseries, named after the Golden Globes and Emmy, “The White Queen” and the critically acclaimed STARZ miniseries, “The White Princess”. The series is based on the best-selling novels, “The Constant Princess” and “The King’s Curse”, written by Philippa Gregory.
The final part of the series The Spanish Princess continues the story of Queen Catherine and Henry VIII, who presides over the most glamorous court in Europe and are adored by their people. Together they create an England proud, confident and strong enough to resist external threats. Catarina’s struggle to conceive an heir puts her marriage and her situation in jeopardy, and is haunted by her past choices. Despite showing herself to be a politician, diplomat, nationally inspired and even military commander, Catarina will have to fight to save her love with the king and preserve the peace and prosperity of her reign.

Charlotte Hope (“The English Game”, “Game of Thrones”) and Ruairi O’Connor (“Delicious”, “Teen Spirit”) are the couple in power again, Catarina de Aragão and Henrique VIII. Other important returning cast members are Stephanie Levi-John (“Diversion”, “Striking Out”), like Catherine’s faithful maid, Lina de Cardonnes; Georgie Henley (“The Chronicles of Narnia” Trilogy) as younger sister of Henry and Queen Margaret (“Meg”) Tudor of Scotland and Laura Carmichael (“Downton Abbey”, “A United Kingdom”) as Margaret (“Maggie”) Pole.
The list of new cast members who have joined the miniseries include Ray Stevenson (“Rome”, Saga Thor) as the rude husband of Meg, King James IV of Scotland and Sai Bennett (“Mr. Selfridge” , “Near the Enemy”) as Henry and Meg’s sister, Princess Mary, now old enough to forge a political alliance for the Tudors through marriage. Andrew Buchan (“Broadchurch”, “The Honorable Woman”) joins the cast as cult and enigmatic Sir Thomas More and Peter Egan (“Downton Abbey”, “The Unforgotten”) will play valiant General Howard of Tudor.
Emma Frost (original STARZ series “The White Queen” and “The White Princess”; “The Man in High Castle”) and Matthew Graham (“Life on Mars”, “Electric Dreams”, “Dr. Who”) will continue as as showrunners and executive producers, alongside executive producers Charlie Hampton and Charlie Pattinson for New Pictures, and Scott Huff and Colin Calendar for Playground. These latest episodes feature three female directors, starting with Chanya Button (“World on Fire”, “Vita & Virginia”), followed by Lisa Clarke (“The Spanish Princess”, “Sanditon”) and Rebecca Gatward (“Dublin Murders , “” Traces “).
