There will be no PlayStation 5 on store shelves on launch day

This was something that we had already revealed here in Noticias e Tecnologia on October 27th, and now the official PlayStation communication is coming: there will be no PlayStation 5 on store shelves on the day of its launch.

In a statement signed by Sid Shuman, Director of Content Communications at Sony Interactive Entertainment, he explains the following:

The PlayStation 5 launch on November 12 (or November 19, depending on your region) is almost here! In the interest of the safety of our players, merchants and teams thanks to COVID-19, we are confirming today that all launch day sales will be made in our partners’ online stores.

No units will be available in the store for purchase on launch day (November 12 or November 19, depending on your region) – please do not plan to camp or stand in line at your local dealership on launch day in the hope to find a PS5 to buy. Be careful, stay home and place your order online.

Players who have requested a pickup from their local dealer should still be able to do so at the specified time, in accordance with the dealer’s security protocols. Confirm details with your local dealer.

Special thanks to our entire community for your continued support this year. To the next generation of games!
